The results for my first year of studies in Pharaceutical Management has arrived. And I am elated when I received them! Please refer to pictures below:

That’s right! Yours truly attained a distinction!

On a less lighter note, I have decided to transfer courses. So instead of BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Management, I am now currently taking BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences. The basis of this decision was the eternal loathe for the business modules that are intergrated in my former course (30%). Hate thus leads to not so brilliant grades which thus leads to a lower category honours grade at the end of my course which is something I am unable or not willing to compromise. or jeapordize. So people, that means, I have 2 more years to go and will only be graduating in November 2011. Oh well.

Time flies right? I hope it does, or I might have to kick it on its ass.

The Pseudo Birthday

Posted in Uncategorized on July 23, 2009 by accidentalpresidency

So it came – my pseudo birthday.

22 July

That was the date that was set by Michael for my pseudo birthday. I guess everybody now would be wondering, ‘what the heck is a pseudo birthday?’ Well, it all stemmed off a simple lie. Michael met me when I was at the young, fragile, tender age of 17. However, technically, I was 18 by YEAR that fateful year of 2004. But since he met me in August, before my real birthday on November 22nd, I was still 17 by MONTH.

And he had to introduce me to his best friend, Angela to blanket confidentiality. And so, since he was too embarrassed to introduce her to his boyfirend who happened to be a MINOR, he made up a fake birthday PLUS he made me one year older. And that was how it began. And we’re alls till living the lie for a good 5 years now.

So anyway, explanation aside, it was actually a really good birthday celebration despite its fake cause. It was a party of 4 – Angela, JP, Martina and me, hosted by Angela at her place in Shelford, Bukit Timah. I reached her place at about 7:00pm and had champagne whilst updating each other on our lives with a cigarette in handl. Before long, the other guests arrived and we ordered pizzas from Spizza, which by the way, is the best pizza place in my opinion. Really great pizzas, and a huge variety from A to Z. I mean literally, they have 26 choices of pizzas in accordance to the letters of the alphabets. I had Vittoria – chorizo (Italian spicy sausage) with mushrooms and chilli, Angela had Sofia – seafood, JP had Gina – olives and mozarella and Martina had Olivia – spicy salami and chilli.

More champagne, more white wine, more red wine, more cigarettes and soon we were tipsy! And then the cake came, had Black Forest Cake with Cherry liquer in it. YUMMY! And my shared present from all of them was…… $150 voucher for Club 21! Jubilation! Time to get meself a new Emporio Armani wallet! We made a move at about 11:30pm where we bid farewell to Angela, and Martina went back home while JP and me went over to Tantric for a couple of drinks.

At Tantric, we met a common friend of ours, a tennis coach, Jonathan. Chinese dude, below average looking, irritating, skinny… You get my disdain. Talked a lot, drank a lot, and I got drunk. Naturally. Went home, and on the cab ride home, I called Mike and cried. Being drunk always pushes me down to emotional road, where mere thoughts or recollections can send me producing enough tears to fill Lake Toba. He hushed me and consoled me and promised to call me once he is done with work.

Once home, I had to Skype with Michael where again I cried, and complained, and cried some more. Both boyfriends are so far away. I was immensely frustrated. I still am. Sigh. However, our Skype session did not last very long, as he convinced me to lie down in bed and get some rest. He told me he loved me and he will talk to me the next day when I am sober.  I grudgingly obliged and put myself on the bed while the room started spinning and I tried hard not to regurgitate the pizza and the cake. And before I knew it, I was asleep.

Today when I woke up, I realized that Mike texted me saying “I decided not to call as I want u 2 rest my dear. Don’t be stubborn. Sleep and I will talk to you 2mrw. LU. Sleep well sweetheart.” I smiled at the uncanny similarity between his words and Michael’s. Looks like both boyfriends share the same thinking.

I miss him.

More than I miss him.

2. Get my driving license out of the way (14th Aug)

3. Find a job related to my field of study (anything after 14th Aug)

4. Welcome Michael home and look for a new condo (15th Aug)

Saturday’s harvest on fun was a bountiful one! Really enjoyed my day and it didn’t encompass me going to Backstage or Tantric, which says a lot already.

So let me recap the day’s happening with you, Fatamorgana.

The day was supposedly to commence with me meeting Amanda, but due to misfortunate  unforseen circumstances, she had to back out and relayed to me her wish to postpone our date, which I gladly did. No worries, darling. I then asked Jocelyn out for a date instead and she agreed.

So then, we met up at Plaza Singapura as I first wanted to check new arrivals of my Transformers figures, but sadly, to no avail. Albeit, I bought 3 pairs of ankle socks though at Carrefour. The new wave of figures would only be coming in next week onwards. I am ALMOST done with my set collection with only a few more to get my hands on; mainly: Leader Jetfire; Voyager Long Haul & Grindor; Deluxe Arcee, Jolt & Moonracer; Supreme Devastator. So $400 will be set aside for those and will be invested for the cause of an elated man!

But I digress.

Soon thereafter we made our way to Ngee Ann City where, en route, we bought a sardine pastry puff and a couple of fried squid heads at Old Chang Kee in front of The Heerens, part of our things-to-eat-together list. Once at our destination, I collected Gerritsen’s The Mephisto Club that I pre-ordered prior and also grabbed Transformers: The Movie Universe book, which basically, is a characterization book on the two movies. *gloats* Oh, then, we bought unchilled ice lemon tea as proof to my claim that unchilled ice lemon tea incurs sore throats! I swear to God. But, sadly, no sore throats that day. I insist that the drink was not unchilled enough.

I insist.

We then made our way to NUDE, one of the Indochine branches located at Wisma Atria. Had an afternoon pint of Heineken each (yes, no Guinness this time around), on a hot summer afternoon while listening to live music sung by a trio of band which included a 9 year old girl. Really very nice, I was drawn. I must say, I was impressed. *hums Hotel California*

The higlight of the day then begins. We went to collect the movie tickets that I reserved at Shaw House Lido and then got ourselves some easy and fast lunch/dinner, by this, I mean McSpicy burgers from good ol’ Ronald’s cookhouse. Which movie you ask?

That’s right. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the 6th installment in the movie/book franchise by J.K. Rowling. I was really immensely satisfied with the movie, I have to say. In my opinion, the movie was accurate as an adaptation to the novel (compared to previous predecessors), full of action and suspense that did not allow time for boredom and the feeling of dragged time, incorporated stunning special effects, especially the part where Dumbledore conjured rings of blazing fire to tackle the Inferi (zombies).

W . O . W

Being an avid fan of the novel franchise, I did not expect to be surprised and satisfied, as I have read all the books and was hald expecting myself to be disappointed, as the case goes for all such adaptations, movies always do not do their counterpart novels justice. But lo and behold, I was proven wrong for the first time. Extremely recommended! Best Harry Potter movie by far. Read Jocelyn’s blog for her opinion.

The day (or night) ended with us having drinks – vanilla latter for me, hot chocolate for her – at Starbucks at Orchard Parade Hotel. Oh, not forgetting our Mango Madness cake, which, I have to attach a little note, is the most scrumptuous mango cake I had by far. Good texture, moist, and had a sweetness that is perfect. We were presented with joyous company when Jocelyn’s sister joined us, there. We had, I guess, a fruitful conversation revolving here and there. Mostly there. Or was it here? Anyway, it was quite a heavy basket of fruits for her, I reckon.

Showered and having my teeth brushed, I had a chat with the boyfriend before heading to sleep. Condo talk. We were discussing possible cribs to accomodate us when he’s back. So far, we agreed decidedly that Mount Sophia (behind Dhoby Ghaut station) and Tiong Bahru were our favourites. So we’ll see, how this progresses. Will update accordingly.

So there. There was my well spent Saturday. No frills, laid back, marvellous company and filled with wholesome goodness.

Here is the recent passport photo that the boyfriend took. Honestly, I think it’s quite cute. Very, how do I put it, muesli-ish!

Broken Hearted Girl

For those, who, are like me:

Broken Hearted Girl РBeyoncé

You’re everything I thought you never were
And nothing like I thought you could have been
But still, you live inside of me, so tell me how is that?

You’re the only one I wish I could forget
The only one I love to not forgive
And though you break my heart, you’re the only one
And though there are times when I hate you
‘Cause I can’t erase
The times that you hurt me and put tears on my face
And even now, while I hate you, it pains me to say
I know I’ll be there at the end of the day

I don’t wanna be without you, babe
I don’t want a broken heart
Don’t wanna take a breath without you, babe
I don’t wanna play that part
I know that I love you, but let me just say
I don’t wanna love you in no kind of way, no no
I don’t want a broken heart
I don’t wanna play the broken-hearted girl boy
No, no, no broken-hearted girl boy

There’s something that I feel I need to say
But up til’ now I’ve always been afraid that you would never come around
And still I wanna put this out

You say you’ve got the most respect for me
But, sometimes I feel you’re not deserving of me
And still, you’re in my heart
But you’re the only one
And yes, there are times when I hate you, but I don’t complain
‘Cause I’ve been afraid that you would walk away

Oh, but now I don’t hate you
I’m happy to say
That I will be there at the end of the day

Now I’m at a place I thought I’d never be, ooh
I’m living in a world that’s all about you and me, yeah
Ain’t gotta be afraid, my broken heart is free to spread my wings and fly away, away with you….

Another day has made it’s invisible mark and still, I am suffering from jet lag. To be honest, it’s not such a bad thing for someone who is in my situation and circumstances as my life is most eventful when the sun goes down.

1. My university lectures take place from 1900hrs to 2200hrs at night

2. Michael, who is in Germany has 7 hour time zone difference as compared to Singapore – therefore, we chat at 0200hrs my time as he is then back from the office.

3. Mike, who is the States has 11 hour time zone difference and therefore we can only chat after 0000hrs.

So, actually, it isn’t so bad. I guess I have to re-adapt once Michael comes here and we’re gonna have a less nocturnal lifestyle. My day starts at 1700hrs and ends at 1100hrs the next day. Great, huh? So my studying and all (which, by the way is incurring a higher frequency now as my exams are coming on the 22nd and 27th – Resource Planning and Marketing Management Strategies respectively) happens somewhere after 0300hrs.

They call me a night owl.

Kinokuniya Bookstore called me today and told me that the book that I have ordered has finally arrived.

Yeap, that’s right, renowned author Tess Gerritsen with The Mephisto Club! It’s the 6th book in a series of homicides (comprising of Detective Rizzoli and Medical Examiner Dr Maura Isles). Those who are not in the know, Gerritsen writes medical thrillers, and really, really audience-captivating ones. She graduated from medical school and decided to pursue her passion in writing and started a line of medical thrillers. They are gripping, scientific and packed with entangling suspense! Recommended read.
